First Recorded Baby Shower in History
I never thought that the “first recorded baby shower in history” was Mary’s baby shower for Jesus. But does make sense!
I wish it was my thought, but I found it in the Opinion Section of NewsDay.com.
Three Kings Day was the day the three wise men found baby Jesus in the manger and gave him gold, frankincense and myrrh. It was the first recorded baby shower in history. Jesus’ mother, Mary, had just given birth in a barn.
I guess riding camels will slow you down getting to the party!
Thomas Kelly goes on to write – and for a chuckle too.
She got myrrh when she really needed a bassinet. Mary had her own epiphany: Never invite men to a baby shower.
Great thoughts, Thomas! Thanks for the laughs too! Men are getting invited to baby showers – we’d better do better than spices?
While these men may have not given her the best gifts for a baby shower, according to Kelly, they did hold some value in those times. Joseph could have sold them to buy a comfy place for them to stay.
