Friday The 13th Baby | Are you Superstitious?

Are you Superstitious?

I used to be.  So much so I was addicted to my horoscopes, watched nervously for signs, and never liked seeing a black cat run across my path….nor hats on beds, walking under ladders, and such.  I did not want to believe in such things – but I believed in it enough to avoid such situations.

How would you feel if your baby was born on a Friday the 13th? How would you feel if you had planned for it because it worked out best to your schedule?

I recently was introduced to the blog Without A Dash and its author, Suzanne.  She is having her second baby – a girl – on Friday the 13th.  I was surprised with the date and told her so, but she, as you will quickly see when you read her blog, has no worries about it.  Only good humor.

Yes, scheduled on Friday the 13th. My husband joked that if it was a boy, we would have called him Jason. Lucky for the kid, she is a girl. I could choose a date by myself and opted for convenience.

And that clear -headed sensibility combined with a sharp, smart humor is what you read in entry after entry on Without A Dash.   It is about being a mom, but it is also about being human, having opinions, and just living life.  A fun twist is that she blogs from Thailand.

She has promised me an article on Thailand’s baby shower customs, or in her words:

Perhaps something on birth customs or superstitions. I am living in Thailand and found with the birth of my first daughter that a birth is celebrated different in different cultures. There were quite a few habits and superstitions that I found strange. And that did not have anything to do with Friday the 13th!

I am looking very much forward to reading it!

Thank you Chris, a great post!
Friday the 13th or not, I’m scared of surgeries anyway! And my first daughter keeps on asking me about the size of the doctor’s knives and all that…. eeeww. haha.
I’ll let you know how things went and how life continues in superstitious Thailand.
